About Life Groups
One way you can get connected in community and deepen your relationship with God is by being a part of a Life Group. A Life Group is a gathering of 2-8 individuals who choose to meet once a week for one hour to read a passage of Scripture, write about that passage, and share their observations and insights. Life Groups happen between couples, family members, friends, or among a group of people who don’t know each other but decide to form a group.
What do I write about?
One simple way to read and write about Scripture is to use the acrostic SOAP based on The Divine Mentor by Wayne Cordeiro.
S – the Scripture that you read
O – your observations about that Scripture
A – How you want to apply that Scripture to your life
P – A prayer written in your journal relating to what God is teaching you
You can record your thoughts in notebook, journal, or pick up a Life Journal at Compass Media Center. This process takes about 20 minutes to read the passage of Scripture, 20 minutes to journal, and 20 minutes for discussion.
How do I join a Life Group?
There are a wide variety of groups meeting during various times and at various locations. Click here for a complete list of Life Groups or e-mail Lori Borrajo lborrajo@bfconline.org.
How can I lead a Life Group?
Throughout the year we offer a one-hour training to help you launch a group. You may have a group of friends you'd like to meet with, or we can give you names of people who are interested in forming a group. Groups can meet in a home, at a coffee shop or restaurant, in a park, or we can help you arrange a time to meet on our campus. If you’re interested in facilitating, e-mail Lori Borrajo at lborrajo@bfconline.org
