ENGAGED: The Epic Life of Paul

After the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, hundreds of people saw Him—often in large social gatherings. There was no refuting it. The witnesses were spreading out, the claims about Christ were gaining a hearing. Those intent on preserving Jewish traditions were in a panic. And one man was going to lead the way. His name was Saul. Later on he went by the name Paul. What took place between “Saul” and “Paul” is an incredible story.

Raised as a devout Jew, trained as a Pharisee in the strictest sense of the word, and brimming with Chutzpah—Saul was ready to rumble. He was a 1st century gang banger committed to one thing: destroying anyone who mentioned the name Jesus.

But then something amazing happened. He would never be the same. Some of you can relate—at least to some degree. You were headed one way, then something happened. God got your attention. But now what? How’s life going?

As Paul’s story unfolds in the book of Acts, yours is going to come into clearer focus.

• What’s a real encounter with Jesus like?

• How do we grow spiritually more committed, more faithful, and more courageous?

• What made the early church believers so “on fire” and unstoppable?

• What does it look like to really “engage the world” around us?

• When others make fun of us or attack us for our faith—how are we supposed to respond?

• What is the secret to inner joy even when circumstances are extremely difficult?

• How are we supposed to go on when we feel like a total failure?

• How do we deal with living in a sin-saturated culture, and still maintain a pure relationship with God and others?

• How do we live like Jesus in the middle of a society that feels so anti-Jesus?
